On Sunday, July 26th stop by Pivot and other West Loop businesses for a PAWS Chicago Angels with Tails event. We’ll have five puppies outside Pivot!! All the dogs and cats outside the shops are available for adoption. Visit the PAWS site for more information and a map of the participating locations.

Pivot and other West Loop boutiques (Bess & Loie, Koros, Tribeca, EG Jewelry & more) will also be hosting sidewalk sales all weekend – Saturday, July 25th and Sunday July 26th.

Visit Fulton Market’s annual spring arts walk on Saturday, May 9th from Noon to 5 p.m. Stop into Pivot for treats and special offers and then explore the rest of the neighborhood shops, art galleries and restaurants!

In Pivot’s April newsletter I asked people to share some ideas for Earth Month resolutions. Maybe it’s incorporating one change into your life each month and building from there. Everything adds up and everything counts! Here are a few of the ideas…

1. Use public transportation instead of the car.

2. Bring containers along when going out to restaurants, so that restaurants use fewer disposable containers.

3. Increase commitment to buy locally produced organic food and local businesses by buying majority of food at Green City Market and Green Grocer.

4. Begin vermiculture composting.

5. Planting only edibles on balcony garden.

6. Fresh, local vegetables instead of frozen ones (and freezing those yourself if needed).

7. Stop buying bottled water.

8. Unplugging electronic devices when not in use at home.

9. Try to stop buying & using paper towels – or at least cut down.

The Lara Miller Donna dress will be available at Pivot during Dresses Week (April 2- 9) in cobalt and fuschia. We also just got in the Sparky Vest in black and raspberry. The Sparky is one of my favorite things for the Spring 2009 season. So great to throw on over a tank, tee or basic dress to easily add some interest.
