The Boyfriend

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

I professed my love of the boyfriend cardigan for a recent article in the Chicago Tribune’s special style section. We have an absolutely gorgeous one in right now from Organic by John Patrick. Cashmere, long, bucket pockets and in an ever-versatile charcoal – it has everything you need in a staple piece this fall. Looks great belted as in the picture above.

New at Pivot: The Covet Scarf

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

Don’t you just love when you can wear your scarf as a vest and a bolero and a wrap? Wait your scarves don’t do that? Time to pop into Pivot and pick up one of our Covet scarves. It’s hard to call this thing just a scarf, with buttons and button holes on either end of the scarf, the sky’s the limit with the ways you can wear this piece. Wear it as a normal scarf, or start to button and it’s like you’ve bought five different pieces, making it perfect for travel. Standard scarf (but with cute button accents), shawl, or wear it as a vest layered over your favorite t-shirt.

MoSS: Museum of Sustainable Style

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

MoSS: Museum of Sustainable Style made its debut October 2 – 5 at Brickermade’s studio space during Chicago’s Fashion Focus week. I developed the concept for MoSS in May, and with the help of amazing partners and collaborators, the first installation came to life.

The exhibit featured 27 Chicago designers of sustainable fashion, accessories and furniture. An animated film running on loop discussed components of sustainable design, and the materials directory website Ecolect created a “petting zoo” of various materials for visitors to explore.

On Saturday, October 4 MoSS held a panel discussion moderated by Jonathan Shaun with panelists Sara Snow, Barry Bursak, Lara Miller and Iris Wang. The discussion centered on the meaning of sustainable design and ways to lead more sustainable lifestyles.

MoSS events will continue in the future. If you are interested in MoSS developments, join Pivot’s email list for now or email connect@mosschicago.org.
